Civatali Birlesim Preliminary Load and Sikma Analysis - Generator Kaidesi Total Sikma Margin Calculator: method and worked example

What the calculation does

M = N_bolts F_preload − separating load (kN; negative denotes demand exceedance)

Example using the prefilled values

Inputs: bolts=8 count; preload=65 kN; separate=180 kN; apply formula stated above.

How to interpret the result

Negative signed margin means separation demand above initial total bolt preload.

Assumptions and limitations

Ideal preliminary engineering calculations only, not certified connection or spring design. Helical coil spring approximation uses active turns, mean coil diameter and linear elasticity; geometry, end configuration, buckling, solid height and fatigue require separate checks. Bolt preload and torque calculations assume uniform load and ideal geometry; nut factor K varies substantially with lubrication, friction, installation and joint compliance. A negative clamping margin indicates separation demand exceeds summed initial preloads; this is not a predicted final clamping force. Friction clamp estimates assume constant Coulomb friction, equal independent contact surfaces and no dynamic impacts or loss of preload. Utilization above 100 percent must remain visible and signals capacity exceedance, not safe operation. Positive-input numerical guards protect floating point arithmetic; they are not certified design ranges.
